Expand UPITER, Fla. -- Josh Willingham, the Minnesota Twins' leading power source last season, was scratched from the lineup for an exhibition game Friday, March 1, because of minor back stiffness. Manager Ron Gardenhire had planned to bring Willingham on the long bus ride across the state to serve as designated hitter against his original organization, the Miami Marlins. However, Gardenhire saw something from Willingham in a game Thursday, Feb. 28, and thought better of it. "After his last at-bat he got to first base, and I saw him bending over," Gardenhire said, "and I'm going, 'Either he doesn't want to go on a bus ride or he's stiff.' I talked to him after. He said he was a little bit stiff." Josh  Willingham signs autographs for fans after working out during spring training at the Lee County Sports Complex in Fort Myers, Fla.
