So, when local musician, Joey Huffman, found out he needed an expensive surgery, his friends pitched in to help him out by taking to the stage. You will hear Huffman if you listen to an old Soul Aslyum albums. The Atlanta native is a keyboardist who has been playing since he was 10 years old. His skills landed him gigs with several acts like Matchbox 20, Hank Williams Jr. and Miranda Lambert not to mention several gold and platinum records. But it was a decade of excruciating headaches that put it all on pause. His doctors diagnosed his condition as trigeminal neuralgia. A tumor is pushing on a nerve behind his eye causing him extreme pain. It has confined the man who used to rock stages around the world to his bed. The good news is that doctors can remove the tumor, but it will cost a considerable amount of money that he just doesn't have.
