A shell has hit a central area of Damascus, according to activists.
"A shell was fired on Bab Touma," a Christian quarter of Damascus's Old City, the Syrian Observatory for Human rights, without specifying exactly where it landed or where it was fired from.
Bab Touma was targeted for the first time by a car bomb in October that killed at least 13 people, but has been spared other violence. The area is a popular shopping area with many restaurants.
